How To Capture Packets
- Download packet capture for Android
- Install the packet capture software and then open it.
3. Two symbols that resemble a “play button” will appear. The first symbol (on the right) collects packets for a single program, whereas the second symbol catches packets for all apps now operating on your Android smartphone. You can use any of the play buttons. During the course of this post, however, we will be using the second button.
- Exit the network packet captureapp and then put on your mobile data.
- Now locate the application that you want to sniff and open it. If they are more than one, open them all.
- Exit those applications and then return back to your packet capture software. Click on the play icon to create a VPN connection. The VPN connection will channel all your app’s activities via your sniffer app which in turn, will harvest the packets.
- You should now see the session reading (the numbers are growing), but do not touch it; instead, leave it for at least 15 minutes while you use the applications.
8. Return back to those apps that you earlier opened (those apps that you want to sniff packets from). Revisit them one after the other and then stay on the applications while interacting with them. If it’s just one app then interact with it alone.
The purpose of your interaction with the application(s) is to get the app to interface with the server, which needs you to transmit packets back and forth for harvesting. You could wind up gathering nothing if you don’t do this on some apps.
How To Analyze Traffic On Network To Get A Working SNI Host List
1.You must have been waiting for at least 15 minutes by now. Return to your sniffer app and choose the previously selected button (the button has changed to red). To stop capturing packets, click it.
- Click on the read session to view the harvested packets.
- When the read session opens, you will see several applications, with those with most interactions appearing several times.
Tip:
If you sniffed more than one program, it’s a good idea to note down the names of the apps so you can extract the data one by one from the apps in order to avoid any confusion.
- Locate the applications you want to use to collect data and click on them one by one. There will be nothing in those with zero kilobytes (0.00 KB), so don’t click on them.
5. Open and write down the hosts, referrer, agents, ……. You might see some encoded data while trying to write down those items I just mentioned. Ensure to take note and harvest all the VALUABLES.
